Cultural history of Jingdezhen’s china
It is well known that ancient China was the hometown of china and you can easily find it out from the name of the People’s Republic of China. The fine art of china is really a great invention of Chinese people to the art of the whole world, and it is an important symbol of ancient civilization of China. While Jingdezhen, it is called “the town of china” is well known for people all over the world by its splendid china art and products like jade, mirror, bell, paper and something like that.
Being the town of china, its products were well known all over China even as early as in the Tang and Song Dynasty, and founded its No.1 place after it got the name Jingde.
According to history record there were two routes for exporting china products from ancient China, one was the Silk Road and the other was the Sea Way according to some Japanese scholar.
At the beginning of the exporting, the china products were first exported to some Asian countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Japan and Malaysia and then to Americas and European countries. The relics unearthed there recently could justify this.
According to history record, during the Emperor Longqing Years of the Ming Dynasty (1567-1573), the inflow of Mexican silver coin reached nearly two million dollars per year. The inflow of foreign currency stimulated the production a lot.
One of the important events on the history of china making in the town of china should be mentioned is the establishment of the Royal Kiln Mill, which produced china products only for imperial family. The Royal Kiln Mill lasted for two dynasties, 27 emperors and totally nearly 500 years.
Though there were many ups and downs in the development of china industry in Jingdezhen, the fire in the kiln never ceased and the products are getting better, finer and more beautiful.
The products there enjoys such reputations like as white as jade, as bright as mirror, as thin as paper and as sweet as a bell.
Jingdezhen is really worth its name—the one thousand year old china town.
