=>1. 内蒙古大学加拿大研究中心举办“加拿大学术周”活动 （“A Canadian Academic Week” at Canadian Studies Centre, Inner Mongolia University）
应内蒙古大学外国语学院和加拿大研究中心的邀请，加拿大渥太华卡尔顿大学詹姆斯•斯蒂尔教授从10月30日至11月6日对我校进行为期一周的学术访问活动。斯蒂尔教授60年代毕业于英国伦敦大学获英语博士学位；曾任卡尔顿大学英语系主任和《加拿大的英语研究》杂志总编；现为加拿大—中国友好协会秘书长，并应邀担任我校加拿大研究中心及国际合作项目顾问。在学术周期间，斯蒂尔教授就中加关系的发展﹑加拿大英语诗歌，以及加拿大高等教育体制等方面为我校师生做精彩的讲座，与加研中心课题组成员座谈并给予学术指导。
外国语学院加研中心于10月31日下午在学术会议中心3号会议室举行了欢迎会。内蒙古大学杨劼副校长应邀出席欢迎会并做了重要讲话。杨校长在讲话中对外国语学院和加研中心的学术发展和国际合作交流给予了殷切希望。外语学院胡树院长在欢迎会上致辞，感谢斯蒂尔教授对加研中心的扶持与帮助，以及学校领导和学者们对外国语学院的关注和大力支持。欢迎会及学术周活动由加研中心主任魏莉副教授组织安排。
为了建立加拿大研究在内蒙古地区的跨学科跨院系跨学校的交流与合作，加研中心还特别邀请内大哲学学院赵东海院长﹑法学院刘银良副院长﹑交通学院李宏副院长﹑内蒙古师大国际教育学院乌云娜副院长、农大国际教育学院刘翠兰副院长和工大国际交流处范晓彬副处长等领导和学者们出席了欢迎会。欢迎会后，斯蒂尔教授为外国语学院部分教师和研究生做了首场讲座，会场气氛非常热烈。

Invited by Foreign Languages College and the Canadian Studies Center at Inner Mongolia University, Prof. James Steele from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, paid his one-week academic visit to Inner Mongolia University from October 30 to November 6, 2008. Prof. Steele obtained PhD in English from University of London in 1965. He taught in the Dept. of English Language and Literature first at McGill University and then at Carleton University. For a number of years he served as Chairman of Carleton’s Department of English and as Managing Editor of English Studies in Canada. He now actively works as Secretary at Canada-China Friendship Society in Canada, and has accepted our invitation of being the academic consultant for our center and our international collaborative project.
Our Canadian Studies Center sucessfully organized “A Canadian Academic Week”. Prof. Steele delivered three lectures on “China and Canada: A Personal Review”, “An Appreciation of English-Canadian Poetry”, and “The Canadianization Movement in Canadian Universites” during his visit.
Prof.Yang Jie, vice president of Inner Monglia University attended the welcome meeting held on October 30, 2008 and delivered a speech, encouraging our center to strengthen collaboration with Canadian scholars and gain more academic achievements. =>2. 《白雪天使—加拿大现代英语诗歌选集》近期已由内蒙古大学出版社出版(Angels of Snow: An Anthology of Modern English-Canadian Poetry Published by Inner Mongolia University Press Recently)
《白雪天使—加拿大现代英语诗歌选集》近期已由内蒙古大学出版社出版。加拿大詹姆斯•斯蒂尔教授﹑内蒙古大学魏莉副教授和加拿大黄志钢博士共同完成本书的选编工作。《白雪天使》编集了十七位加拿大最负盛名的现代诗人的诗歌近五十余首，包括弗兰克•斯科特﹑玛格丽特•艾特伍德和诺尔曼•白求恩等。本诗歌集对加拿大英语诗歌做了比较全面的综述，对每位诗人生平及其诗歌特点做了介绍，并为每首诗歌做了中文注释和主题思想概括。它能够拓展国内加拿大文学研究的方向，丰富加拿大文学研究的内容，向中国读者介绍加拿大现代英语诗歌，并为在中国致力于外国文学研究的学者和英语专业学生能够更好地理解加拿大文学提供一个实用性教学和研究用书。本书的出版得到加拿大外交与国际贸易部加拿大研究发展基金及加拿大驻华使馆的资助，2008年10月获得“内蒙古大学第四届科技创新成果奖”二等奖。

Recently, Angels of Snow: An Anthology of Modern English-Canadian Poetry has been published by the Inner Mongolia University Press. Angels of Snow is co-edited by Prof. James Steele, Prof. Wei Li, and Dr. Huang Zhigang. It consists of 54 poems by 17 well-known Canadian authors, including some distinctive poems by F. R. Scott, Margaret Atwood, and Norman Bethune. It provides an general introduction to English-Canadian poetry. The introduction in the anthology is published both in English language and in Chinese translation, while the poems are published in their original English form with Chinese annotations. It can be used as a textbook for English-major students to help them gain a better understanding of Canadian poetry and Literature. It can also be of interest to Chinese scholars specializing in foreign literatures to conduct their literary research.
The publication of the anthology has been supported by a Canadian Studies Development Grant from the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade through the Academic Relations Office of the Canadian Embassy in Beijing.
The anthology was just awarded the Second Prize of “Inner Mongolia University Scientific and Technological Innovation and Achievement Awards” in the October of 2008.
