加拿大西安大略大学Suzanne Majhanovich教授访问辽宁师范大学(Prof. Suzanne Majhanovich from UWO Visiting Liaoning Normal University) 由加拿大驻华使馆资助,应辽宁师范大学加拿大研究中心邀请,西安大略大学教育学院的Suzanne Majhanovich教授于5月13日到23日来中国访问,第一阶段访问了辽宁师范大学。Majhanovich教授是前任的加拿大国际比较教育学会主席,现任加拿大国际教育杂志主编,西安大略教育学院副院长。她40年来长期从事第二语言教学和多元文化教育,著述甚丰,专门培养来自亚洲,特别是中国的留学生,过去二十多年中指导过30多名中国博士生和硕士生,大部分是大学英语教师,并多次来亚洲国家做语言教学方面的讲座,对亚洲的英语教学非常熟悉。她本人不仅从事语言教学和研究,本人能够流利使用英语、法语、德语和西班牙语。她这次在辽宁师范大学做了两场报告,题目分别是Prof. Suzanne Majhanovich giving lecture “亚洲环境下的英语教学”和“第二语言教学理论和方法综述”。 听取报告的有来自大连地区几个大学的教师、研究生和本科生。Majhanovich教授在报告后用英语和法语回答了听众用不同语言就语言教学提出的问题。她对中国的英语教学提出独到的看法,认为目前情况下,交际法不一定适合中国的英语教学。会后,辽师大外语学院领导和加拿大研究中心主任王昺教授宴请Majhanovich教授并共同讨论了两校未来长期的合作意向。她的访问向听众介绍了新的观点和科研成果,大大增进了两校之间的了解和合作。Majhanovich教授在大连逗留4天,参观了旅顺日俄战争古迹二零三高地炮台,旅顺军港和苏军烈士陵园,以及星海广场、中山广场、白玉山等旅顺和大连市内的景点。Majhanovich教授于5月18日离开大连,按计划前往北京传媒大学继续进行第二阶段的访问。她将于本月23日离京回国。 The audience in rapt attention Supported by the Canadian Embassy in Beijing and at the invitation of the Canadian Studies Center of LNU, Prof. Suzanne Majhanovich from Faculty of Education, University of Western Ontario, recently visited China for ten days. She visited LNU from May 13th to 18th as the first leg of her visit. Dr. Suzanne Majhanovich is the former president of the Comparative and International Education Society of Canada -CIESC (Société Canadienne Éducation Comparée Et Internationale - SCECI), the current editor-in-chief of the Canadian and International Education Journal (CEI), and vice-dean of the Faculty of Education of UWO. Over the past four decades, she has devoted herself to teaching and research in second language acquisition and multicultural education and has published prolifically. She has been committed to training Asian, esp. Chinese students. Over the past 20 years, she has supervised over 30 overseas Chinese students at the Master and doctoral levels, most of whom are university English teachers. Having been here in Asia many A teacher putting question times offering lectures in second language teaching, she is very familiar with English teaching in Asia. Not only has she taught and researched, but also she herself is a linguist, able to speak fluently English, French, German, and Spanish. She gave two lectures in LNU, entitled “English Teaching in Asian Context”, and “Theories and methods in Second Language Teaching”. Participating in her talks were teachers from several local universities and colleges, graduate and undergraduate students. At the end of talk, she answered interesting questions raised by the audience in both English and French. She aired her unique opinion that communicative approach may not be appropriate for English teaching in China. After the academic activities, the Dean of Foreign Languages School and the director the Canadian Studies Prof. Wang Bing invited her to dinner and talked with her on future continued cooperation between the two institutions. She introduced new points of view and research results and her visit greatly promoted the understanding and cooperation between Canada and China, and UWO and LNU. Prof. S. Majhanovich stayed in Dalian A student putting question for 4 days, when she visited some historical sites such as Lvshun Russo-Japanese War battlefield, the Naval base, the Cemetery for Former USSR war martyrs, as well as some tourist spots in the city. Prof. Majhanovich left Dalian on May 18th for Beijing to continue her visit to the Beijing Media University. She flew back to Canada on May 23rd.
