We are looking for a Product Development Engineers to join our China team. In this role you will be a key member of development test team of the next generation software test application to deliver key usability and performance improvements over the existing product suite.

 

 

 

Candidates shall possess the following qualifications:

 

 

·  A successful track record of software development using structured software development techniques using C++ or C# and script languages (TCL/Tk preferred).

 

·  Communicate in writing and verbally in English.

 

·  Experience communicating with peer Development engineers, Management and other departments such as Product Verification, Customer service and Marketing regarding design information, technical issues and results.

 

·  Ability to read customer and Marketing product specifications, translate them into work tasks, estimates and software designs.

 

·  Structured design process including planning, design documentation, structured reviews, code version control systems, unit testing, integration testing, problem tracking and resolution.

 

·  Extensive use of software development tools including development environment tools (E.g. MS Visual Studio), unit level debug tools (UUnit), Software version management databases (E.g., Perforce, ClearCase, etc.) and Bug tracking systems (E.g. Siebel, Bugzilla, etc.)

 

·  Investigate and recommend technical solutions to complex problems.

 

·  Hands-on experience with configuring and using network routers and switches from manufacturers such as Cisco, Huawei, Foundry, and/or Juniper.

 

·  CCNA/CCNP qualification preferred.  We prefer candidates with expertise configuring and debugging a broad range of Networking Technologies such as:

       §         IP and TCP protocols

       §         Routing Protocols such as RIP, OSPF, ISIS, LDP, RSVP and BGP.

       §         Knowledge of MPLS and VLAN technologies.

       §         Access Protocols such as IGMP/MLD, PIM, and DHCP.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

· Computer Science or Engineering degree

 

· At least 2 years of software development experience in the telecommunications and/or application development industry using C++, C# and script languages such as TCL/Tk.

 

·  Proven record of designing and implementing high quality software products and delivering them to market as scheduled.

 

·  Strong knowledge in network protocols such as: IPv4, IPv6, OSPF, bgP, Multicast, IGMP, MLD,QoS, PPP and TCP/IP.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

 

A successful candidate will be expected to perform as follows:

 

·   Develop an understanding of  products and projects:  Within the first 2 weeks, meet with project team leader, fellow developers, end-users and other key individuals associated with the project to determine the scope of the project and how the position fits into the overall scope of the project.  Learn everything necessary about the software product(s) assigned to this position, the tools and processes; and make a presentation to the team within 5 weeks demonstrating this understanding.

 

·   Complete Software Design:  Meet with the software team, develop and submit a design document for formal review one month after the engineering requirement document is made available.  May involve OOAD using UML. 
Any OO designs will require design documentation including the design rationale, the use cases, class diagram, sequence diagram and the public interfaces.

 

·   Write Efficient and Effective Code to Meet Requirements of the Project:  Depending on the assignment use TCL and/or C++, complete the detailed coding.  Meet the project deadlines on-time.  Completed code should meet established project performance standards and processes.  This includes completion of design document; design review; code review and unit testing.

 

·   Lead On-going Project Reviews for assigned project:  Meet with the project team on a pre-determined basis to discuss project progress, obstacles and solutions.  Identify any problem discovered and recommend solutions.  Meet project milestones on or before scheduled completion dates. Work with documentation team to develop and verify product documentation for the project.

 

·   Conduct Testing:  During the design phase continually test code for functionality and performance optimization to insure the code meets project standards.  Take the lead on coordinating this effort with the software quality assurance team and assist with all troubleshooting and debugging efforts.  The system testing includes testing with DUTs such as Switches and Routers; and automation scripting with TCL.   Ensure that all required code changes are completed in a timely manner to meet the overall project schedule.
